COEP stored CO actual line items (costs by cost element, cost object, and value type) in ECC. It was the primary table for cost object controlling reports — cost center actuals, internal order costs, WBS element costs. In S/4HANA, CO no longer generates separate CO documents. Every cost-relevant FI posting writes one ACDOCA line item carrying all CO dimensions (cost center, order, WBS, profit center). COEP is no longer populated for new transactions. Historical COEP data is migrated to ACDOCA during system conversion.

key differences:

•COEP was a CO-only table requiring FI-CO reconciliation; ACDOCA carries both FI and CO dimensions in one record — reconciliation is eliminated
•COEP used internal object numbers (OBJNR) to reference cost objects; ACDOCA stores KOSTL, AUFNR, PS_PSP_PNR, PRCTR as explicit indexed fields
•Value types (WRTTP: 04=actual, 01=plan) in COEP become part of ACDOCA's posting type context
•CO-PA assessment cycles still run in S/4 but post to ACDOCA instead of COEP
•Standard CO reports (KSB1, KOB1, S_ALR_87013611) are rewritten in S/4 to use ACDOCA-based CDS views
